Afton Cotton Junior and Youth Choirs Director The Junior and Youth Choirs at First Parish will be led this year by Afton Cotton, First Parishioner and member of the Senior Choir for the past two years. Afton received her Bachelor’s degree in Music and Elementary Education from Brandeis University in 2006, and spent two years teaching in the Boston Public School system at the Conservatory Lab Charter School. Afton now works at New England Conservatory of Music managing the Community Performances and Partnerships Program, an outreach program that brings NEC musicians into schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and community centers throughout the Greater Boston area. Afton loves to sing, and has sung in choruses, musicals, a cappella groups, jazz ensembles, operas, and as a soloist since childhood. When she isn’t working at NEC or singing, Afton can be found working part time at the Apple Store, gardening, or cooking.
