Accumulations Series #1

Artist Statement

This body of work explores the themes of repetition, and accumulation as well as process inspired by my great grandmother’s five year diary.

The process of keeping a diary is a repetitive act, an accumulation, that over time becomes an abundance of the physical and the ephemeral.

Using screen prints as a base layer to represent my great grandmother’s writing, I then incorporate ink and watercolor for the subsequent layers to evoke the perceptual interpretations of the months of the year. My goal is to make the ephemeral concrete.
