Wendy Fulenwider creates works on paper and canvas. Through a close
study of nature, she explores the relationship between the constraints
of drawing and the loose, gestural marks of painting. She has studied
in the Fine Arts Certificate program at Duke University, the New York
Studio School and is currently pursuing a Fine Arts degree at Hunter
College. Wendy currently lives and works in New York City.

These comments from Saatchi Online:
Fulenwider’s paintings and works on paper, all luminous natural and urban landscapes, approach the formal constraints of representation with an abstractionist’s eye. While respecting the flatness of the picture plane, she engages with the organic, plastic nature of her materials. Through the repetition, order, and lyricism of floating marks of various size and gesture, there develops an overlap of translucent and opaque layers of paint, and cohesion of a close palette of colors. A strong internal drawing structure holds the relaxed, expressive external features of the work.
